voco The Shelby in Myrtle Beach opened its doors to paying guests in June 2025. It’s the first voco hotel in South Carolina and is located on the beach, just off the Kings Highway (housed in the former Sandcastle Oceanfront Resort at the Pavilion, which has undergone an extensive renovation and rebranding).
The hotel design has a retro style with murals and fun details inspired by the history of the area. It’s named after Shelby Ann Byrd, a well-known local figure remembered for her warm hospitality.
The pet-friendly hotel offers a choice of accommodation in rooms and suites, many including ocean views and private balconies.
There’s one main restaurant and bar (The Palm & Pebble). It serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
The voco also has The Shelby Beach Club (for drinks and snacks), a pool, and a lazy river.
The location is close to the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, SkyWheel, and a short drive from the airport (4 miles southwest).

The Ellie Beach Resort opened in June 2024. It’s part of Hilton’s upmarket Tapestry Collection and sits right on the beach in Myrtle Beach, close to Springmaid Pier and less than 10 minutes from Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR).
The resort offers accommodation in a choice of pet-friendly guest rooms and suites, many of which have ocean views and balconies. Some rooms are designed for families, with features like two king beds or bunk beds. Microwaves, mini-fridges, and free Wi-Fi are available in most rooms.
There are both indoor and outdoor pools, plus waterslides, a lazy river, and water play areas for kids. A fitness center and EV charging stations are also available.
Guests can eat at Ocean Blue, the hotel’s main oceanfront restaurant, or at Southern Tide Bar & Grill on the nearby pier. There’s also a small shop called The Market for snacks and drinks.
The resort includes over 35,000 square feet of event space, which is used for weddings, conferences, and other gatherings. Spaces include ballrooms and outdoor lawns with views of the beach.

The newly built Holiday Inn Club Vacations Myrtle Beach Oceanfront Resort opened in April 2024. It’s located right on the beach, across the street from the brand’s older South Beach Resort.
The resort has 152 spacious accommodations. They range from one- to four-bedroom units. Each unit includes a balcony or patio, and many have views of the ocean.
Guests have direct access to the beach. The resort also has a multi-level outdoor pool, a splash pad for kids, hot tubs, and a sun deck. There are fire pits, lounge areas, and private cabanas available near the pool.
Inside, there’s a fitness center, an indoor lounge with a fireplace, and both indoor and outdoor spaces for relaxing or spending time with family. Dining options include a poolside bar, a café, and a grab-and-go market for snacks and drinks.
